The Avalanche of Artificial Intelligence: Reshaping Markets, States, and Human Identity

The Bangladesh Institute of Peace and Security Studies (BIPSS) convened a high-level roundtable titled “The Avalanche of Artificial Intelligence: Reshaping Markets, States, and Human Identity” on 22 December 2025. Dr. Syed Muntasir Mamun, Director General, International Trade, Investment and Technology and Chief Innovation Officer, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, delivered the keynote address. Major General A N M Muniruzzaman, ndc, psc (Retd), President of BIPSS noted that Bangladesh, and the world, are already in the AI age with no possibility of turning back. He cautioned that what is recognized as AI today represents merely a nascent infancy, and the true scope of its power, including the advent of superintelligence, is yet to be fully realized.

He also urged that Bangladesh should urgently develop specialized national capacity for AI governance. Dr. Syed Muntasir Mamun argued that existing governance arrangements are inadequate for the challenges ahead and called for dynamic and responsive forms of governance capable of accompanying citizens throughout each stage of their engagement with AI-driven systems. The roundtable brought together diplomats, academics, technology experts, and thought leaders to explore the far-reaching implications of artificial intelligence for Bangladesh and the global order.
