RSIS roundtable on Non-Traditional Security in a Changing Global Order
On 7 April 2025, the NTS Centre hosted the RSIS roundtable on Non-Traditional Security in a Changing Global Order at Holiday Inn Atrium Singapore. Prof Mely Caballero-Anthony, Associate Dean (International Engagement), Head of NTS Centre delivered the opening remarks. The first panel discussion comprised framing presentations by Prof Mely Caballero-Anthony on Climate Security, Dr Jose Ma. Luis Montesclaros, Research Fellow, on Food Security, Dr Margareth Sembiring, Research Fellow and Ms Danielle Lynn Goh on the Energy Transition. The second panel discussion saw framing presentations by Mr Keith Paolo Landicho, Associate Research Fellow, on Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR), Ms S. Nanthini, Associate Research Fellow, on Gender Security, and Mr Julius Trajano, Research Fellow, and Ms Jeselyn, Research Analyst on Biosecurity. A session on Planetary Health and on translating ideas to action, included presentations by Dr Pey Peili, Research Fellow, and Sir Andrew Haines, Department of Public Health, Environments and Society, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
Over 40 participants joined the discussions, including academics from different parts of the world. Prof Diane Stone, European University Institute; Prof Chiho Watanabe, Nagasaki University; Dr Lina Gong, Xi’an-Jiaotong Liverpool University; Dr Gerlie Tatlonghari, Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research (SEARCA), Ms Maisarah Faiesall, Sunway University, and Dr Mirza Sadaqat Huda, ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute responded to the presentations as discussants. Representatives from Singapore ministries such as the Ministry of Health (MOH), Ministry of Sustainability and Food Policy Division (MSE), Ministry of Trade and Industry, Energy Market Authority, Changi Regional HADR Coordination Centre (RHCC) and other organisations also contributed to the dialogue.
