International Conference on “China in South Asia/South Asia in China: OBOR and the Sri Lankan Experience,” 30 and 31 August, 2017 in Colombo, Sri Lanka

Followed by the first conference organized by Regional Centre for Strategic Studies on China in South Asia/South Asia in China in December 2016, second International Conference on “China in South Asia/South Asia in China: OBOR and the Sri Lankan Experience” in this context, recognises that China and South Asia exhibit a multifaceted set of interactions, discourses, policies and practices, with an ever changing dynamics and significant implications for Asia. While there exists a considerable extent of literature on bilateral and, at times even trilateral, relationships between China and the countries of South Asia, this project is an attempt to explore the impact of One Belt, One Road (OBOR) in South Asia and to understand the current dynamics and future trends of the relations with a focus on the Sri Lankan experience with China.
The themes of the 2nd International Conference will be as follows:

The Conference which will be held from 30 and 31 August 2017 at Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall , Colombo, Sri Lanka aims to create a platform for dialogue to enhance a deeper and more nuanced understanding of China’s relations in the South Asian region and specifically on Sri Lanka, and provides opportunities for sharing lessons learned and best-practices followed between the two countries in the sphere of trade, investment, diplomacy and other bilateral, trilateral and multilateral relations.
